In 2008, I started Versatility Consultants Ltd with a simple philosophy. To combine energy, vision and innovation with a wide variety of professional skills and learned experiences, to help organisations grow. In 2021 as Versatility, that vision lives on brightly.
As founder and only employee, I am proud to reflect on myself and others completing over 100 organisational project briefs to date. Along the way we have worked with dozens of organisations, professional bodies and charities plus 1000's of their dedicated staff.
We are most often asked to engage, enrich, execute and empower organisations, teams or projects by adding advice and skills only when needed. With flexibility and favourable rates, we engage as inquisitive observers and look to leave as your trusted partner.
From longer-term MBA led strategic thinking to fulfilling short-term resource or project needs, we do things you either don't know how to do or just don't wish to. As our name suggests, our broad expertise brings a wide variety of skills, management capabilities and stakeholder engagement experience. But we are always learning.
What I learn today, is adapted for use by a future client tomorrow.
If you think that could be your organisation, contact me for a Free, no obligation 15 minute telephone or Zoom consultation of your needs.
Many thanks
Nik Screen
Managing Director
Versatility is based in West London and undertakes assignments:
Today, Nik works on a variety of interim roles, as well as carrying out one-off and regular specific briefs, assignments and projects for new and retained clients.
He is supported on specific projects by a team of trusted fellow professional freelancers and creative small business owners, with skills in publishing, writing, editing, marketing, sales, events, AV production, graphic design, websites and much more.
Nik's interest in uncovering the unknown emerged in his teens when he briefly muted becoming a forensic pathologist. He finally settled down to study the living through an undergraduate Biology and Environmental Biology degree at Oxford Brookes University.
After college and a 3 month photographic exploration of China and S.E Asia, Nik started his career in London working for a medical and scientific publisher organising and attending European exhibitions. In 6 years he rose through the ranks to head up Journal Sales and Marketing in Europe before being poached to join a new start-up funded webportal as the evolution of online academic publishing diversification emerged.
Over the next few years under Elsevier's ownership, Nik was focused on commercially developing strategies for brands such as The Lancet, Cell Press, Trends journals and BioMedNet - a Facebook like site for scientists 10 years ahead of social media's invention.
After a stint as global marketing director for an academic portfolio and a USA B2B magazine, Nik moved into the not-for profit sector within the UK's BioIndustry Association. There he managed over 300 member organisations, sponsors, CRM systems and over 50 events, including award diners, overseas trade fairs and the launch of a number of growth initiatives, one of which won small conference of the year.
Leaving BIA to study for a part-time MBA, Nik started securing projects for small business owners, associations, charities and publishers. After receiving his Masters and enjoying the flexibility his self-employment was providing his family, he set up his trading business Versatility Consultants Ltd, in 2008, re-positioning this to Versatility in 2020.
Over that time, Nik has enjoyed a wide variety of assignments and loves hearing about the new challenges clients face and finding the most effective way to help them reach their next horizon. Typically, he operates in several interim roles part-time throughout the year, leaving capacity to take on one-off or repeat projects for existing and new clients alike.
When not working with clients, Nik enjoys time with his long standing partner Margaret and their ten year old son within the community around Isleworth, West London. They are joined by Nik's daughter when she is not competing on the Ladies European Tour in 2023 as a professional golfer or creating digital insight as a journalist and commentator.
Nik is a Team Assistant at Isleworthians Youth FC and an FA level 1 coach. When time permits, his main passion is action, sports or landscape photography- sometime all at the same time when capturing low-level military jets flying below him on remote hillsides.
Nik passionately believes that sport participation helps young people develop strong self-esteem and respect for themselves and others. What better ways are there for our children to safely embrace diversity, equity and inclusion whilst building essential life skills in team work and communication.
Versatility are a proud supporter of grass roots Isleworthians Youth FC football. Nik has been a previous pro-bono marketing advisor and match photographer to the English Schools Golf Association, England Golf and County Junior golf teams.
